Basketball fans:

March Madness is upon us and that means so is Hoopfest 2013. On April 6, 2013, North Dallas K-Life is hosting its annual Hoopfest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in partnership with the Texas Legends, Frisco’s D-League NBA franchise.

Hoopfest is a fun-filled day of basketball for all ages including youth, Jr. High, High School, and adult brackets. The tournament will be played at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, with the championship games scheduled to be played on center court inside the arena. All registrants will receive a free ticket to the Texas Legends game that night against the Springfield Armor. A flyer with more information is attached.

The entry fee is $120/team (max of 4 players per team). So grab your friends, put together your team, and sign up today as entries will be limited to the first 100 teams to register. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit North Dallas K-Life, a Christian youth ministry serving the North Dallas area. Coach,

Ranger College has started a Big Country Basketball program created to give the player that does not get recruited or just needs to start off in a small college atmosphere a chance to continue to play. We have our own workout gym, separate from the varsity and we also are putting together a well-rounded combination high school and small college J.V schedule. We think this type of program will give these types of players a chance to get adjusted to the college class room and will also give them a chance to keep their dreams alive of playing college basketball. Sometimes a player just needs a chance to mature and a year or two to get ready to play varsity college basketball. If any of your players are interested in a program like this, let me know by sending me his name and contact info (asap).

Thanks, Head J.V Basketball Coach Zack Fox

Hello,

I am reaching out to you this afternoon to offer the boys and girls in your basketball program a unique opportunity to attend the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Showcase, a premier college basketball men and women doubleheader on Saturday, Dec. 8th at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

The first game will feature Texas vs. UCLA women’s game at 1:30 p.m. CT followed by a potential top-10 men’s matchup between the Longhorns and Bruins at 4:15 p.m. CT.

The fact that this year’s event features both men and women teams gives us a unique opportunity to offer the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity boys and girls basketball players around the city of Houston, a chance to come out and watch two great basketball programs play in their home city.

With that said, I want to offer the boys and girls in your basketball program each a $13.00 ticket if your program purchases a minimum of 20 tickets to attend this event and tickets are good for both games of the doubleheader.

If this is an opportunity that your basketball program would like to take advantage of please email me back for more information. All groups order must be placed through the bd Global office as this offer is not available through the stadium box office or Ticketmaster. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

Former basketball coach and Round Rock ISD administrator Susan Brown lost her courageous battle with cancer on November 1, 2011. She had her 50th birthday the day before she died.

Susan was a native of Louisiana and was an all-state basketball and softball player in high school and played college basketball at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where she was the team MVP leading the Lady Tigers to the NAIA playoffs. She earned her Master’s degree in Education from Northeast Louisiana University. Susan coached basketball for fourteen years, first in Louisiana and later at Leander, Austin SFA and Temple with her Temple teams in the late ‘90’s, making long playoff runs. She became an administrator in Temple and Round Rock ISD. She was assistant superintendent of Human Resources Services in Round Rock at the time of her passing.

A $1,000 scholarship has been set up in her honor to be awarded to a Round Rock ISD Senior Varsity Female Athlete who exemplifies leadership, drive and a competitive spirit, all traits shown by Susan. To contribute send donations to: RRISD Partners in Education Foundation, Susan C. Brown Memorial, 595 Round Rock West, Suite 404, Round Rock, Texas 78681

Donations can also be made on line by going to the RRISD Partners in Education Foundation website: www.rrisdeducationfoundation.org Click the donate button on the right to Susan's Scholarship tab.

 Any amount is appreciated.

Blake Brown from Cedar Park High School contacted me the other day looking for old gyms and I want to help him out. He is doing research for this and is looking for old gyms all across Texas that are still standing. They may or may not be still in use. I am sure that many of the old gyms that are still standing are now elementary or junior high gyms. Coach Brown is going to research these gyms for the unique history behind them. He will also get to as many as possible for pictures. Lets help Coach Brown out and preserve some history of high school basketball in Texas!

Lead information provided to you for the contacts, and 25% commission to you for each ad sold. This is a great way for booster clubs to get their teams mentioned in a statewide magazine and for you to pick up some nice summer money! If interested, contact R.V. Baugus at rv@texpreps.com or call him at 469-878-4289.

My name is Scott Peterman and I am a former college coach that is running a free website that helps out basketball coaches with free coaching notes.  I would like to pass the word on about the website.  I coach in Texas at Blinn College in 2000 and 2001 and would like to help out my fellow coaches.  The Basketball coaches association from Michigan and Missouri advertise it to their coaches in their newsletter.
